In 2023-24, I worked with Glasgow Women's Library to visualise the complex intersections of work and care experienced by many women and other marginalised genders.

The project built on a University of Glasgow study into women's precarious and low-paid employment, engaging participants in co-creation workshops. Through these sessions, participants mapped their intersecting roles and responsibilities, visualising the often-invisible contributions of care and labour. Conversations explored undervalued work, fostering critical dialogue about feminist economics and envisioning alternative, equitable economic futures.

Pouring Out, Pouring In builds on a participatory visual mapping toolkit I have developed through collaborative work with women’s groups over the past 10 years. Using block-print symbols co-designed to represent economic realities, the toolkit enables participants to articulate their lived experiences through shared visual languages, fostering meaningful discussions of feminist economic concepts and challenging traditional narratives about work and care.

The outcomes - large-format printed maps, visualisations, and audio recordings - were exhibited at Glasgow Women’s Library from October 2023 to January 2024 and at the Advanced Research Centre, University of Glasgow, for International Women's Day 2024.
