"On Planet Abundance we have witnessed the great exodus. As the climate became chaotic and unpredictable, the financially elite built rockets and evacuated Earth, believing the planet had nothing left to offer them. But what of the survivors on Earth? The majority of them are women. Those who have been marginalised under capitalist patriarchy now have an advantage. Freed from the once dominant ethos of greed and competition Earthlings have adopted an abundance mind-set, finding new and old ways to work together in repairing their world."
The Planet Abundance project takes Teresa Feldmann’s draft text for a feminist science fiction as a starting point to collectively imagine a post-patriarchal world beyond capitalism. This inter-local collaboration is a work in progress, bringing together musicians, visual and performance artists, environmental activists, and arts-based researchers from diverse racial, class, and gender identities, socio-economic backgrounds, and geographic locations.
As we share our experiences and practices we aim to learn collective strategies for listening to each other’s stories and building wiser futures in a time of unprecedented challenges.
The project weaves together my work as a curator, artist, and workshop facilitator, inviting some of the most visionary feminists I know to collaborate with me. Planet Abundance builds on a shared feminist practice, prioritising collective dreams of a just future over individual artistic visions. Using speculative science fiction as a tool for radical political imagination, we explore what a world founded on love, care, and reparative justice could look like.
