The People's Bank of Govanhill is a long term collaborative project exploring ways of putting feminist economics into practice at a local level,
pushing for a radically different economic model and alternatives to capitalism.
From beginning as a series of ad-hoc exchanges and currency experiments during a residency with Govanhill Baths in 2015 The People's Bank of Govanhill is now collectively run.

Our exchange space, Swap Market opened in 2018 transforming a former pawn shop into a place for swapping and sharing resources without the need for money.

Core membership of the international Community Economies Institute, connects this community centred practice with a global movement. Through conversations with feminist economists in the Netherlands, Denmark, New Zealand, Mexico, Argentina and Canada, methodologies and research are shared across non-capitalist and decolonialist economic projects.
